Red Hair in Art: Jules-Frédéric Ballavoine

Jules-Frédéric Ballavoine (1842 - 1914) was a French painter who specialised in female portraits.

He exhibited regularly in the Salon des Artistes Français. His painting Une partie de campagne aux environs de Paris was shown at the Exposition Universelle in 1878. After World War I his works were nearly forgotten, but since the beginning of 2000 they are being shown again in art exhibitions.
